What Is Social Work?
One thing that you should know about social work and charity work is that these two are completely unique to each. In fact, charity work is just a very small part of the whole picture because the major scope for doing charity works lie in assisting people to protect their rights, in great need and even achieving decent living.
In relation to social works however, it has roots to world religions and ancient civilization and just a handful of growing profession that are covered by such sector are education, legal aid, domestic violence, sustainable development and the likes.
Social work entails jobs that could be as basic as assisting a handicap to get across the street, provide psychological help to those who have been abused and the likes. The social care industries however aren’t limited to helping the poor but people who are well off as well. When caught in times that they think it is impossible for them to get out of the situation they are in, these people are seeking help from social workers. As a simple example, an addict or his/her family may sometimes seek social help to be able to get out from the addiction. Patients who have disease who has no cure may need counseling are going to social workers.
Some types of social work do not require any type of formal education in such field include education either online or in classroom. As an example, an educated person with time on her hands could decide to teach underprivileged children, a nurse or a doctor might opt to treat poor patients during their spare time.
Governments in more developed countries have departments that are intended for social work. On the other hand, for under developed countries, it’s normally the non government organization and individuals who’s been looked up to for these duties. There are also several international and national social organizations who offer such help. Then again, other social workers are working from the offices, conducting research, advocating social work at different aspects of the government, writing papers to get help for social work and so on.
Qualified and certified social workers are then employed by the government and by the social aid organization. Some people started social help organizations on their own and got volunteers who are willing to assist them. It can literally be a wonderful idea to take part in social work especially if you want to give back to your community. You just don’t get the chance to help others but also, it is a very fulfilling and rewarding experience on your behalf.
